I'll start by saying this: when it comes to cooking, I am not a natural.
My mother was always an excellent chef, plus a bit of a foodie, so my father, brother and I got a lot of good cooking growing up. In addition to enjoying her weeknight creations, we ate out every Friday, taking advantage of the increasingly nice restaurants that were popping up all around town. I didn't realize then how lucky we were to experience such culinary diversity, and my interest in food only went so far as eating it (usually as fast as possible - I was and still am a little bit of a glutton).
Needless to say, when it came time to feed myself, there were a lot of questionable "meals" - who says you can't live on queso and pretzels? But after a few years living on my own and missing all that home-cooked goodness, I am slowly realizing that an under-seasoned stir-fry is not the limit of my abilities. Y'all, there is a whole world of recipes out there! And by god, have you even seen Pinterest? It makes me hungry just thinking about it.
So I'm inviting everyone to join me on a culinary adventure as I test out recipes and cookbooks and maybe even a few of my own ill-advised ideas. There won't be a lot of precision, and even less technique, but if I can do it, surely you can too. It will be a glorious procession of foodsperiments, and if nothing else, maybe you can at least learn from my mistakes.
If you want to see what kind of recipes I'll be playing around with, feel free to check out my greedy little collections of food, drinks, and sweets. There's a lot to look forward to! xx
